State Settles Lawsuit With Former Female Prison Guard July 11, 2018

A former female prison guard will be paid eight hundred thousand dollars as part of a settlement with the state of Missouri.

A report issued by Attorney General Josh Hawley shows the payment was made to officer Tina Gallego, who claims she was sexually harassed and poisoned by male officers while working at the Kansas City Re-entry Center.

Gallego says that she became a target in 2016 after testifying in court on behalf of a co-worker about harassment and discrimination.

According to a report from the St. Louis Post Dispatch the state of Missouri has paid over 52 million in the past five years to settle many cases involving female guards in the state’s 21 prisons.
