Audrain County Deputy Recovering From Injuries After Patrol Car is Rear Ended

An Audrain County deputy is recovering after being rear ended in his patrol vehicle yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.

According to the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department it happened on eastbound Highway 54 in Vandalia around 4:50 yesterday (Thursday) evening.

Deputy Justin Landis had stopped to turn into the Van Far High School, and was rear ended by another vehicle at a high rate of speed.

The patrol car was totaled.

Deputy Landis taken to the hospital and later released without any serious injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.
