Drug Overdose Death Rate Higher In Missouri Than U.S. According to New Report

A new report is showing that drug overdose death rates in Missouri are higher than the national rate.

The report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says Missouri is one of twenty states with a higher rate than the United States rate.

Missouri is also the lone state in the U.S. without a prescription drug monitoring program.

Columbia joined St. Louis County in establishing it’s own prescription monitoring drug program last year.

According to the report drug overdose deaths nationwide involving synthetic opoids, increased seventy one percent from 2013 to 2017.
