Five Arrested After Police Chase and Theft From Jefferson City Sporting Goods Store

Five people are in police custody after a chase yesterday (Sunday) in Jefferson City.

A theft of over five hundred dollars was reported around 3:20 yesterday (Sunday) afternoon at the Dicks Sporting Goods Store in Jefferson City.

An employee of the store gave a description of the vehicle and officers found a vehicle matching the description in the 1200 block of Missouri Boulevard and tried to conduct a traffic stop.

The pursuit traveled east onto US Highway 54, across the Missouri River Bridge, and onto northbound US Highway 63.

According to police during the pursuit, the suspects threw a large amount of stolen merchandise from the car.

The pursuit ended when authorities from the Missouri State Highway Patrol deployed tire deflation devices at the intersection, Zumwalt Road and US Hwy 63 in Boone County.

Charges are pending, and at this point of the investigation over three thousand dollars of merchandise has been recovered.
