Missouri Secretary Of State Jay Ashcroft Rejects A Third Referendum On New Abortion Law

A third petition for a public vote on Missouri’s new abortion law is now rejected by Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft.

This rejection comes after Ashcroft rejected two other referendums last week filed by the ACLU of Missouri and Joplin Republican business man David Humphreys.

A Cole County Judge heard arguments yesterday (Tuesday) by the lawyers for the ACLU and Humphreys seeking restraining orders on Ashcroft and a permanent injunction against the Secretary of State’s decision not to allow the question onto the ballot.

The judge asked the lawyers to amend their current filings and another hearing will take place on Monday at 1:30 pm.
