Charges Filed In Deadly Jail Assault

A Mexico man is charged with first degree murder after a jail assault that led to the death of a 42 year old Centralia man.

According to a probable cause statement, 27 year old Ryan Wade Blair admitted during an interview with investigators he had been planning on killing Michael Eisenhauer. He continued by saying he killed him by striking Eisenhauer in the head repeatedly with his fists and feet until he was dead.

Audrain County Prosecutor Jacob Shellabarger filed the charges today. [Friday]

Blair will make his initial appearance in court on July 18.

If found guilty, Blair faces the death penalty or life in prison.
