Identity Of Man Killed During Police Shoot Out Being Released

The identity of a man killed in a police pursuit yesterday (Thursday) afternoon is being released.

According to the authorities it was 41 year old Christopher A. Morris of Jefferson City.

The pursuit ended in Callaway County on Highway 54, north of New Bloomfield after a state trooper used spike strips on the car.

Morris then reportedly got out of the car and opened fire on police, two officers then returned fire.

Morris died as a result of a gunshot wound, while a Jefferson City police officer suffered an injury to his hand during the exchange of gunfire.

An autopsy is pending to determine whether Morris died as a result by an officer bullet or if the wound was self-inflicted.
