Country
96 - KWWR (95.7 FM)

Station History:

KWWR, at 95.7 FM, signed on the air in 1966 broadcasting with 55,000 watts from a 411' tower co-located with our AM sister station, KXEO in Mexico, MO. At that time, KXEO was Country and KWWR was Beautiful Music. In 1978, under new ownership, Country was moved to the FM side, KWWR, and the soon to be legendary, Country 96, was born.

In 1980 power was increased to 100,000 watts, making Country 96 a full Class C FM....very unique for a community the size of Mexico. In 1985 a 1,035' tall tower was constructed just west of Mexico, boosting our coverage area to about a 60 mile radius around Mexico....reaching much of central and northeast Missouri as well as west-central Illinois.  In 2000 a new 1,203' tower in western Audrain County was put on the air, making Country 96 the biggest country station in Missouri.
