Columbia Man Charged With Second Degree Murder

A Columbia man is now charged with Second Degree Murder in a drug deal gone wrong.

According to court records 23 year old Noah Swyers was selling marijuana to 17 year old Justin Shelton on February 5th.

During the exchange Swyers alledgedly shot and killed 17 year old Joseph Taylor who had gone with Shelton to the drug deal.

According to court documents Shelton was inspecting the marijuana and Taylor pulled a gun and ordered everyone down.

Swyers then responded by pulling his own gun and shot Taylor multiple times.

Swyers initially told Columbia police 2 people entered the home and one person was shot as the second person ran from the home.

A warrant has now been issued for Swyers and a bond set at two hundred fifty thousand dollars.
