The Mexico Bulldog Baseball Team fell to the Hannibal Pirates on the road 8-3 last night (Thursday).

Hannibal broke through with a 7-run sixth inning and picked up the North Central Missouri Conference win.

The Pirates went ahead 1-0 in the second inning.

Mexico would tie the game in the top of the third inning when Josh Forbis hit a RBI single to drive in Daeye Miller.

The Bulldogs would then score 2 runs in the 4th inning to take a 3-1 lead.

They were helped by a double steal of second and third base from Tyler Thoenen and Landon Kleinsorge, which set up sacrifice RBI from Daeye Miller and Ty Sims.

Mexico is now 3-5 on the season and will play their next game on Monday on the road against the Moberly Spartans.

St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Cincinnati Reds 11-6 to open up the season yesterday (Thursday).

The Redbirds offense put up a 6 run first inning.

Dylan Carlson hit a three-run home run making him the youngest Cardinal to homer on Opening Day since 1936.

Paul Goldschmidt put up 4 hits, and Tyler O’Neill hit a 2 run tater.

Nolan Arenado went 2 for 5 in his Cardinals debut.

The Redbirds are off today and resume play tomorrow against Cincinnati with a 3:10 start.

The Kansas City Royals set a club record for runs scored on Opening Day with a 14-10 win over the Texas Rangers yesterday (Thursday).

The Royals 15 hits surpassed the previous record of 14 against Minnesota in 1969.

Fans returned to the stands at Kauffman Stadium for the first time in 550 days, and it was a limited capacity sellout of 9,155.

Kansas City has the day off today and resume their series with the Rangers tomorrow afternoon (Saturday).
