KWWR Sports Report 11/30/22

The Missouri Tigers men’s basketball team remains undefeated.

The Tigers were on the road last night, taking on Wichita State.

The eighth win of the season was a little tougher to come by, but the Tigers rallied in overtime to win 88 to 84.

Mizzou was led by senior Noah Carter with 20 points followed by grad student D’Moi Hodge with 19 and senior Sean East II with 17.

Grad students Tre Gomillion and Nick Honor each had 4 steals to anchor Mizzou’s defense.

Next up for the Tigers is a home game Sunday afternoon against Southeast Missouri State at 3:00.

Mexico easily handled Wellsville – Middletown last night in the MoCo tournament.

Mexico’s Jordan Shelton led all scorers with 20, followed by DJ Long with 16 and Aiden Knipfel with 8.

Mexico put up 16 points in the first and third quarters, 25 in the second and 9 in the fourth quarter.

Mexico moves on to take on Hermann tomorrow night at 6:00.

In other action from the tournament, there was one upset as number 5 seed Hermann beat number 4 seed Clopton 62 to 51.

Number 2 seed Fulton beat the number 7 seed New Haven 63 to 21, and number 3 seed Montgomery County handled the number 6 seed Bowling Green 62 to 24.

The tournament continues tonight with girls action.

Bowling Green takes on Clopton and Montgomery County takes on New Haven, both games with a 6:00 tip.

At 7:30, it’s Mexico meeting up against Fulton while Hermann gets Wellsville – Middletown.

The Community R-VI Trojans boys basketball team is 1 and 1 on the season following a loss to Marion County last night 63 – 42.

The Trojans were led in scoring by Gavin Allen with 15, Mason Carroll with 11, and Brant Cope with 8 points.

Their next game is a road game to Center to take on Mark Twain on Friday.
