Jefferson City Construction Worker Killed After Retaining Wall Collapses

A construction worker in Jefferson City is dead following a retaining wall collapse.

According to the Jefferson City Fire Department, a 9-1-1 call was received just before 1:00 this (Tuesday) afternoon reporting the collapse at the former St. Mary’s Hospital.

Emergency personnel were on scene within a minute and firefighters began shoring up the wall to access the victim.

It took crews 40 minutes to completely gain access to the victim and find that he had succumbed to injuries from the collapsed wall.

The name of the victim has not been released.

The investigation is now being handled by the Jefferson City Police Department.
