DISEASE LINKED TO PET STORE SPREADS TO 12 STATES

A disease linked to a petstore has made 55 people sick, and 13 hospitalized, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The disease, caused by a bacteria spread by contact through dog feces, is causing people in 12 states including Missouri to exhibit symptoms.

The disease has been traced back to Petland. 14 people are employees of the stores in 5 states, and 35 had either recently purchased a puppy, or visited a store just before the first case was reported in mid-September.

No deaths have been reported.
