School officials in Columbia are confirming that a student had a gun on a school bus yesterday (Monday).
According to reports it happened yesterday (Monday) on Smithton Middle School bus 232 when a student alerted the driver that another students had a gun, the driver stopped the bus, took the gun away, and called police.
A letter was sent to the parents in the district around 3:45 stating that officials believe the student had the gun with them in their backpack throughout the day.
Smithton School Officials say that by law the district cannot comment on the students discipline or personal information.
