Columbia Police have a man in custody after an altercation yesterday (Sunday) involving a gun.

According to police a woman called into joint communications saying that a man was waving a gun outside of a vehicle following her trying to kill her.

Both vehicles approached the Columbia Police Department and collided with a parked car on Walnut Street, the female victim ran inside of the lobby.

Columbia officers say they chased 31 year old Daleron Michael Monroe back to his vehicle where a struggle ensued over his gun.

Monroe then fled on foot and officers say they detained him after a second struggle in the 400 block of Park Avenue.

One officer sustained minor scrapes and bruising as a result of the incident.

Police say Monroe and the woman were previously in an intimate relationship.
