The Jefferson City Police Department is investigating after a weapons offense that occurred just after 1:00 this afternoon in the 700 block of Maple Street.
According to police, the initial call was for a car hitting an apartment building in the 500 block of East Elm. Dispatch received several more calls regarding shots being fired around the same time.
When investigators arrived on scene, they found a male subject with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Witnesses reported several occupants of the vehicle fled the scene. They were all located within moments.
The condition of the victim has not been released. No other injuries have been reported and the investigation is ongoing.
