With temperatures expected to climb throughout the weekend, the American Red Cross is offering safety tips to beat the heat.
The Red Cross says to stay hydrated, and avoid caffeine and alcohol, wear loose, lightweight clothing, slow down and stay indoors and postpone outdoor games and activities.
If someone is exhibiting signs of heat exhaustion such as cool and moist skin, headache, nausea or dizziness move them to a coll place, and provide 4 ounces of water every 15 minutes.
A heat stroke can be life threatening. Signs include hot red skin, vomiting and high body temperatures. Call 911 immediately if someone shows these signs.
