Final Public Meeting Held In Wardsville For New Blair Oaks High School

A second and final public hearing is now in the books for a proposed new high school for the Blair Oaks school district.

Wardsville residents heard plans last (Tuesday) night about the Blair Oaks R-II School District hoping to raise two rates by a total of sixty cents per one hundred dollars of assessed property value to boost funds for a new high school.

The board of education is looking at raising the debt service tax levy by thirty cents, without any voter approval by their August 14th meeting.

If the board decides not to raise the debt service tax the voters would be asked to approve it on the April 2019 ballot.

If voters approve rate increases the new high school is estimated to be open at the start of the 2021 school year.
