Boone County Deputy Shoots Burglary Suspect
One burglary suspect has non life threatening wounds after being shot by a Boone County Deputy, a second burglary suspect is still on the loose.
It happened yesterday (Monday) afternoon on Schooner Road in Columbia when a nearby citizen reported 2 men breaking in through the back door of a house.
Boone County Deputies say a foot pursuit then started across Schooner Road and through some back yards and onto Meadowlark Lane where one of the suspects 24 year old Deaundre Lewis-Gatewood pointed a gun at a deputy, causing him to fire shots at the suspect.
Lewis-Gatewood was released from an area hospital and taken to the Boone County Jail on multiple charges.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation into the shooting.
