Decrease In Number Of Missing Sex Offenders In Missouri Since Last Year

A decrease in the number of missing sex offenders in Missouri since last year is being reported by State Auditor Nicole Galloway.

Missouri law requires sex offenders to check-in and verify their address with local law agencies, and are given one week to register when they move to a new location.

When an offender does not comply they are labeled as missing.

In October last year (2018), the state auditors office found 1,259 offenders who were not following registration laws.

Nicole Galloway now says over the past nine months the numbers changed significantly and dropped around 21 percent, which left about 1,000 sex offenders missing.
