Columbia City Council Bans Conversion Therapy With Minors

Conversion therapy on children is now banned by the Columbia City Council.

The conversion therapy is the practice of trying to change a person’s sexual orientation.

An ordinance was passed last (Monday) night by the council that prohibits licensed professionals from practicing the therapy on people under the age of 18.

The ordinance was recommended by the city’s human rights commission.
