Cole County Inmate With Alleged Self-Inflicted Gun Shot Wound

An investigation into a Cole County inmate being shot is finding that it was self-inflicted.

Cole County Sheriff John Wheeler says Brandon McNeese suffered the gunshot wound Monday night while inside the holding area of the jail.

Wheeler says they have not figured out how the weapon made it into the prison, however an investigation is continuing.

McNeese is now facing charges for unlawful use of a weapon and a felon in possession of a firearm.
