Columbia and Boone County Officials Lay Out Reopening Plan

Columbia and Boone County officials are announcing plans to start reopening after they have been flattening the curve of COVID-19.

Mayor Brian Treece said of yesterday Columbia has seen a sustained reduction in positive cases for 14 days, and has the capacity to test anyone with coronavirus symptoms, and has half the rate of the state as a whole.

Treece says when reopening occupancy limits will include all businesses.

Those under 10,000 square feet must maintain 25% or less of their authorized occupancy.

There will also continue to be a 10 person gathering limit.

Large venues, like bars, movie theaters, and playgrounds will remain closed until phase 2 of the reopening plan.

People are being asked to continue to work from home when possible, wear masks and keep a distance when out in public, plus avoid non-essential travel.
