MU School Of Medicine Announces Temporary Salary Cuts And Furloughs
Temporary salary cuts and furloughs are being announced at the MU School of Medicine in an effort to cut costs amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
A virtual town hall meeting for employees was held yesterday (Thursday) where it was announced that faculty will be required to take 10 percent salary reductions for 3 months, beginning today through July 31st.
Staff members will be asked to take either a 10 percent pay reduction for 3 months or one week of unpaid furlough during that 3 month period.
The mandatory action is estimated to save over 9 million dollars.
The earliest payroll period in which the adjustments could begin is June 1st for salaried staff or May 3 when the next pay cycle begins for hourly staff according to an email sent out from the school yesterday.
