Shooting at Columbia Juneteenth Celebration

A man is recovering from a gunshot wound after a shooting in Columbia last night (Friday) during a Juneteenth Celebration at Douglass Park.

Columbia Police say they went to the call around 8:30 in the 400 block of Providence Road and the victim was taken by medics to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

According to police it happened near the basketball courts where a large number of people were gathered.

No suspect description is available at this time, and the investigation is continuing.
