Governor Parson Calling for Special Session On Violent Crime

Missouri Governor Mike Parson is calling for a special session to focus on violent crime in the state.

In a press confrence yesterday (Wednesday) Parson said We know we have a serious problem with violent crime here in Missouri that must be addressed.

According to a press release, the special session will focus on amending state statutes related to violent crime.

Among the provisions is a proposal to eliminate the residency requirement for St. Louis law enforcement so long as the officer lives within an hour of the city.

A proposal requiring the court to determine if a juvenile should be certified for trial as an adult for the offense of unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.

Other proposals include witness statement admissibility, a witness protection fund, modify the offense of endangering the welfare of a child, and increase penalties for a unlawful transfer of weapons.
