Person Who Tested Positive for COVID-19 at Van-Far Elementary Open House

An open letter sent out yesterday (Tuesday) from the Van-Far R-1 Schools Superintendent is warning about a possible COVID-19 exposure.

John Fortney said that a person who attended the Van-Far Elementary open house on August 21st, from 6pm – 7pm, has tested positive for COVID-19.

Anyone who was in attendance is asked to monitor for symptoms.

This is a copy of the letter from Van-Far Superintendent John Fortney:

We want to inform you that during our Elementary School open house on August 21, 2020 from 6-7pm, a person was in attendance that has tested positive for COVID-19.

We are in contact with the Audrain County Health Department and remind everyone that if your are experiencing any of the following symptoms to please stay home from school:

  • A fever of 100 degrees or higher
  • New Cough
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Nausea/Vomiting/Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion/Runny Nose
  • Myalgia (Body Aches)
  • Loss of taste or smell

The Van Far R-1 School District is committed to the safety and security of students and staff.
