The Mexico Girls Softball team will open up the season on the road tonight against the Marshall Owls.

The game starts at 5pm.

The Tolton Catholic High School has canceled their football game scheduled for this Friday against Macon.

According to school officials the team started the season with 19 players and after suffering multiple injuries in the opener against Hallsville last week, team leaders decided to cancel the game coming up.

The team will continue to practice daily this week and assess on a week-by-week basis.

The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Cincinnati Reds 7-5 on the road last night (Monday).

Paul Dejong hit a grand slam.

While starting pitcher Dakota Hudson earned his first win of the season going 7 innings recording 7 strikeouts and 0 walks.

The Kansas City Royals with a 2-1 win over the Cleveland Indians last night (Monday).

Maikel Franco and Bubba Starling came through for the Royals with RBI singles in the eighth inning.

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms of contract extensions with head coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach.

According to ESPN the extensions will keep the duo in Kansas City through 2025.

The 62 year old Reid is 77-35 in seven regular seasons with Kansas City, and recently said he had no plans to retire.

Veach is credited within the organization as being the scout who identified Patrick Mahomes in the 2017 NFL draft as a future star and convincing Reid and others they should make a move up in the first round to get the quarterback.
