COVID-19 Outbreak Reported at the Vandalia Women’s Prison

There are currently two hundred and fifteen active cases of COVID-19 in Audrain County as of 6 last night (Wednesday).

According to the Audrain County Health Department 161 of the active cases are at the Vandalia Women’s Prison.

The prison has had 176 total cases composed of 5 staff and 171 offenders.

Fifteen cases had recovered prior to the outbreak that was reported yesterday (Wednesday).

The health department also says many of the coronavirus cases at the Tri County Care Center in Vandalia have recovered, and there are now 5 employees and 26 residents of the original 75 cases that are active.

There have been 531 total cases of COVID-19 and 4 deaths in Audrain County since the pandemic began.
