Audrain County Health Department Pausing Use of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine

Officials with Audrain County Health Department are announcing today (Tuesday) they will pause the use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.

The FDA and CDC are calling for an immediate pause on the use of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine today (Tuesday), after six women in the United States developed blood clots within 2 weeks of taking the vaccine.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has also issued an order halting the giving of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in the state of Missouri.

The order is in effect through December 31st, 2021 unless otherwise modified by DHSS.

Those residents who have received the J&J vaccine who develop severe headache, abdominal pain, leg pain, or shortness of breath within 3 weeks after vaccination should contact their health care provider.

More than 6.8 million doses of the vaccine has already been administered in the United States.
