Fayette Woman Charged With Second Degree Murder After Infant Death in Columbia

A Fayette woman is now charged with 2nd degree murder after police found an eight-month old girl dead at a Columbia home on Sunday.

Officers were called to a home in the 1000 block of Elleta Boulevard.

According to court records the parents left the child and 2 other siblings in 44 year old Jennifer Johnson’s care beginning around 5 Saturday night.

The mother found the child unresponsive and cool to the touch after returning home and immediately noticed bruising.

The parents then took the child to Women’s and Children’s Hospital, where the infant was pronounced dead.

Johnson was arrested yesterday (Monday) morning and was taken to the Boone County Jail with no bond.
