Mexico Public Safety Releases Details of Monday Shooting on Breckenridge

Mexico Public Safety is investigating a shooting that sent a man to the hospital last night (Monday).

According to Mexico Public Safety it happened just after 6pm in the 1000 block of West Breckenridge.

While officers were in that area, there was a crash reported in the 300 block of North Missouri with the driver walking away from the scene.

Public safety says an initial investigation indicated a 30-year old Mexico man had come to a home on Breckenridge, several times throughout the day, threatening residents.

The residents called the police earlier, however the man had left prior to officer arrival and officers had been unable to find him.

The man returned and began shooting at the home when one of the residents shot back at the man.

The man then drove from the scene, crashed his car on North Missouri, walked to a nearby house, and received a ride to Audrain Community Hospital.

He was treated at the hospital and Audrain County Ambulance District then took him to MU Hospital in Columbia, for further treatment.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call CRIMESTOPPERS or Mexico Public Safety.
