Overnight Storms Hit MIX Country 96 Tower Site and Cause Multiple Power Outages

Overnight storms are to blame for several power outages reported in mid-Missouri counties.

The storms knocked MIX Country 96, 95.7FM off the air as lightning hit the tower site near Centralia.

It is now back on the air as of 6:30 this morning (Friday).

More than 300 customers of Boone Electric Cooperative were without power shortly before 2 this morning.

According to Boone Electric, lightning likely hit a substation in western Boone County.

Crews were on the scene working on restoring the power.

Ameren Energy reported 180 customers lost power between Centralia and Hallsville.

Consolidated Electric reported a total of 220 customers without power, with 140 customers without power north of Centralia and 39 customers in Monroe County.
