Long-Time Wellsville Business to Change Ownership

A nearly 60-year old business in Wellsville will soon be under new ownership.

Dairy Mart, opened by William and Alma Smith in 1962, began as a walk-up restaurant before an addition to include indoor dining came along in the 1970s or 80s.

For the last nine and a half years, Michelle and Brian Maskey have owned the business, purchasing it November 1st, 2011.

They have sold the business to another Wellsville family who will be taking over soon and according to Brian, the new owners have even more activities planned for the business and Wellsville.

For the Maskey’s, Brian will continue working for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department while Michelle will pursue a career change, becoming a paraprofessional with Montgomery County R-2 School District.

Maskey’s last day of ownership is tomorrow (Saturday) and the business will be closed for a few weeks while paperwork is completed with the new owners.
