KWWR Sports Report 8/16/21

The St. Louis Cardinals completed a 3 game series sweep over the Kansas City Royals with a 7-2 win yesterday (Sunday) at Kauffman Stadium.

The Redbirds jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back.

Nolan Arenado recorded 2 hits a single and a homerun in the game.

St. Louis has won 6 straight and have climbed back into the Wild Card race just 4 and 1/2 games behind the San Diego Padres for the 2nd Wild Card spot.

St. Louis has the day off today and will host the first place Milwaukee Brewers Tuesday night.

Both Columbia College’s men’s and women’s soccer teams are ranked in the NAIA preseason coaches polls.

The men check in at number 4 in the nation, while women are ranked 12th.

The men’s team kicks off its season against No. 1 Missouri Valley on August 28th in Marshall.

The women’s team starts its season against No. 7 Central Methodist on September 1st in Fayette.
