KWWR Sports Report 9/3/21

The Mexico Bulldogs Football Team will play their home opener against the Southern Boone Eagles tonight (Friday) at Hawthorne Heights.

Mexico looks to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Kickoff is at 7pm.

In other week 2 games it will be Centralia on the road at Hallsville, Missouri Military Academy travels to Highland, North Callaway hosts South Callaway, and Paris is at home against Salisbury.

The Mexico High School Girls Tennis Team lost for the first time this season to Capital City last night (Thursday) on the road.

Katie Gooch and Estrella Ramirez-Lopez picked up Varsity Singles victories for the Lady Bulldogs, and Jocelyn Jarquin-Garcia and Estrella Ramirez-Lopez picked up a Varsity Doubles win for Mexico.

In softball the Community R6 Lady Trojans came out swinging and defeated Herman 18-0.

Community R6’s sophomore pitcher Paige Painter made quick work of the 3 leadoff hitters and retired them.

The Lady Trojans bats made it through the lineup twice scoring 12 runs in the bottom of the first inning.

The Trojans bats came back in the bottom of the second inning and hit through the whole lineup once again and scored another 6 runs.

Community R6 improved their record to 2-1 on the season.

The JV Lady Trojans also won their game 6-0 and are a perfect 3-0 on the season.

The North Callaway Lady Thunderbirds Softball Team picked up their first win of the season shutting out Van-Far 15-0 in four innings.

Every starter for North Callaway had at least one hit in the game.

The Thunderbirds improved to 1-1.

Next up North Callaway faces New Bloomfield tomorrow morning (Saturday) at 10 in Auxvasse.

The St. Louis Cardinals pitcher/catcher duo of Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina is set to reach another milestone tonight (Friday) in Milwaukee in the series opener against the Brewers.

It will be the 300th time the 2 have started together and they are fourth on the Major League Baseball list for most starts together.

That tally does not include the 14 more games they started together in the postseason.

The Cardinals and Brewers play tonight at 7:10.

The Kansas City Royals were unable to avoid a series sweep against the Cleveland Indians with a 4-2 loss at the K last night (Thursday).

The loss marked the Royals 11th consecutive loss to the Indians this season.
