Centralia Board of Alderman Announce Interim Police Chief

A new interim police chief is now appointed in Centralia.

The Centralia Board of Alderman appointed Corporal Nat Stoebe to take over as interim chief until the city finds a more long term solution.

Stoebe has been with the Centralia Police Department for over 5 years and says the department now has 6 full-time officers.

Dozens of Centralia residents showed up to the Board of Alderman meeting last night (Monday) and voiced concerns about the recent resignations from the police department and transparency in the city government.

Three Centralia police officers resigned last week after Chief Bob Bias announced his leave days before he took early retirement on Sunday.

There will now be an investigation into what’s been happening between the police department and the city.

The board approved a law firm called Cunningham, Vogel and Rost to look into recent allegations of impropriety.
