Mexico Room At The Inn Opens This Week
Wednesday marks the opening date for this year’s Room at the Inn in Mexico, a shelter for those needing a place to sleep during the winter months.
Last year, meals had to be pre-packaged and microwaved for guests due to COVID-19 restrictions that also limited capacity at the shelter to nine guests per night.
Audrain County Shelter Resource Coalition treasurer Janella Williams says that isn’t the case this year.
Those wanting to sign up to provide meals can reach out to them on their Facebook page at Audrain County Shelter Resource Coalition or email them at [email protected].
Last year the shelter, located at 409 Fairground next to the Laura Miller George Help Center, served 45 individuals with 578 bed nights and over 300 meals.
The shelter is open December 1st through February 28th and will be able to accommodate 21 guests per night.
