The Cardinals continue to add fringe starters to their club, in search of possible temporary replacements for Alex Reyes and Jack Flaherty.

Yesterday they claimed LHP Packy Naughton off waivers. Naughton, who was designated by the Angels on March 18, appeared in seven games (five starts) in his first season in the Majors in 2021.

Yadier Molina arrived in camp yesterday to an ovation from other players. He expects it will be 4-5 days before he is ready to get behind the plate in a game.

Speaking of games, the Cardinals are now 3-0, after a 7-3 win over the Nationals yesterday.

After 14 seasons in which he became the best quarterback in franchise history, Matt Ryan is moving on from the Atlanta Falcons. He was traded Monday to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2022 third-round draft pick. Meanwhile the Colts reached a 2-year deal with QB Marcus Mariotta.

In the NHL:

The Chicago Blackhawks are moving on from Marc-Andre Fleury, trading the netminder to the Minnesota Wild.

The St. Louis Blues acquired defenseman Nick Leddy and Luke Witkowski from the Detroit Red Wings on Monday in exchange for defenseman Jake Walman, center Oskar Sundqvist and a 2023 second-round draft pick.

The University of Missouri Board of Curators has unanimously approved the hiring of Dennis Gates as their next head Basketball coach. Details of the contract will be forthcoming.
