KWWR Sports Report 3/23/22
Yesterday, Mizzou hired Dennis Gates as their new basketball coach. It was a great day for him to be sure, but the news wasn’t all good. His two best players, Senior Forward Javon Pickett and Freshman Center Trevon Brazile both entered the transfer portal. The decision appears to have been made before Gates was named as coach, as it takes several days for the paperwork to be processed, but still makes the rebuild even tougher.
Meanwhile, on the women’s side of the basketball arena, Senior Forward Aijha Blackwell has also entered the transfer portal. She led the team in scoring and rebounding this past season.
Even football coach Eliah Drinkwitz wasn’t oblivious to the portal bug. Freshman cornerback Zaqhuan “Snoop” Reeves has also entered the transfer portal.
Cardinals ran their grapefruit league record to 4-0 yesterday with a 4-3 win over Miami. Nolan Arenado and Brendan Donovan both belted their first homers of the Spring.
The Royals are also undefeated. KC ran their record to 3-0 yesterday with a 5-3 win over the Athletics.
The St. Louis Blues and Washington Capitals squared off on the ice last night in Washington. The Blues stopped a 3-game losing skid, topping the Caps, 5-2.
