Several Mexico Bulldogs tennis boys earned top honors at the North Central Missouri Conference Tournament yesterday (Wednesday).
Brendan McKeown took 2nd place All-Conference, and Declan Gleeson earned a 4th place All-Conference finish. Andrew Pemberton 6th place, Boston Davolt 5th place, Zeven Ruiz 6th place, Ryan Beasley 4th place, Camden Williams and Jackson Lamb 4th place, Trevor Wright and David Schweim 5th place, Bailey Crum and Regan Stone 5th place.
Mexico Bulldogs baseball defeated the Moberly Spartans 7-4 last night (Wednesday). Mexico pitcher Jack Wilburn earned the win striking out one and walking one.
The Bulldogs offense had 13 hits.
Tristan Playter, Ty Sims, Andrew Runge and Sam Ryan each managed multiple hits.
Runge, Sims and Playter all had three hits.
Mexico stole seven bases during the game, Runge led the way with four.
Southern Boone School District is announcing Trent Tracy as its new activities director. Tracy has been the head football coach and teacher at Southern Boone for the past eight years.
Coach Tracy had a 53-36 record, and was named the Columbia Tribune Coach of the Year in 2018, following a district championship win.
Tracy succeeds Dale Long, who has served as activities director since 2019, effective July 1st.
The search for a new head football coach will begin immediately.
The St. Louis Cardinals shut-out the Kansas City Royals 10-0 yesterday (Wednesday).
St. Louis Cardinals duo Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina now sit atop the all-time list as one of the winningest starting batteries in baseball.
Waino and Molina held Kansas City to just one hit and one walk in seven scoreless innings yesterday (Wednesday).
Wainwright and Yadi notched 202 team wins as a starting battery. That ties them for first all-time with Warren Spahn and Del Crandall, who also were a part of 202 wins from 1949-1963.
Cardinals slugger Nolan Arenado got things going for the Redbirds offense in the first inning with a home run.
Tyler O’Neill tripled and homored.
Royals pitching issued 9 walks in the game.
The Minnesota Wild defeated the St. Louis Blues 6-2 in Game 2 of the Western Conference First Round last night (Wednesday) in Minnesota.
The best-of-7 series is tied 1-1.
Game 3 will be at St. Louis tomorrow night (Friday).
