KWWR Sports Report 5/17/22

The Mexico Bulldogs baseball team lost 6-5 to the Fulton Hornets in round one of Districts yesterday (Tuesday).

The game was tied at five with Fulton batting in the top of the seventh when Hornets batter Ethan Milius singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Sam Ryan took the loss for the Bulldogs.

Austin Maxwell started the game for Mexico and lasted five innings and struck out four.

Mexico ends the season with a record of 15-10.

Community R-VI Trojans baseball lost 4-0 to Higbee in round 1 of Districts yesterday (Monday) at the Glasgow High School. The Trojans ended up with a winning record of 7-6 and made the State rankings this season.

North Callaway High School baseball had their season come to an end with an 11-1 loss to Father Tolton yesterday (Monday).

The Kansas City Royals lost 5-3 in 10 innings to the Chicago White Sox at the K last night (Monday).

Just before the game the Royals announced the firing of hitting coach Terry Bradshaw effective immediately.

Senior director for player development and hitting performance Alec Zumwalt joined the big league staff full time and will oversee all hitting efforts.

The St. Louis Blues play game 1 of their second series in the NHL Playoffs against the Colorado Avalanche tonight (Tuesday) on the road.

The Blues are in the second round for the first time since they won the Stanley Cup in 2019.

Puck drops at 8:30.

The St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets will play a doubleheader today (Tuesday) starting at 2:10 this afternoon.

The first game of the series was postponed yesterday (Monday) due to poor weather.

Both games today will be at least nine innings.
