A new school record stands for William Woods University at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships held this week in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Natalie Thomas finished sixth out of 25 athletes competing in the javelin with a 42.85 meter throw.

With her throw, she claimed NAIA All-American honors and hit a new personal best by three meters and 45 centimeters.

She also moved up one spot and broke the school record by one meter and 90 centimeters.

Thomas became the first woman in program history and only the second athlete to receive All-American honors in the javelin, and the first since 2018.

Thomas is a 2020 graduate of Community R-VI High School and a sophomore at William Woods University.
