The St. Louis Cardinals completed a double-header sweep over the Pittsburgh Pirates yesterday (Tuesday) at Busch Stadium.

The Cardinals won the first game 3-1.

Paul Goldschmidt blasted a home run and added three RBI’s.

In the nightcap the Redbirds put up a 9-1 victory over the Buckos.

Paul Goldschmidt hit two home runs an racked up five RBI’s in the game.

Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas nearly threw a no-hitter.

Mikolas threw 8 2/3 innings of no-hit ball.

St. Louis goes for the series sweep tonight at Busch.

St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Jack Flaherty will make his first start of the season in the series finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight.

Flaherty had been scheduled to make his third rehab start at Triple-A Memphis today.

Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Flaherty will be held to around 60 pitches.

Flaherty had a platelet-rich-plasma injection in his shoulder early March to combat inflation.

The Kansas City Royals lost 4-2 to the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park.

The Royals have lost four in a row heading into today’s (Wednesday) series finale.

Mizzou softball added transfer Payton Jackson from Texas Tech yesterday (Tuesday).

She announced her commitment on Twitter.

Jackson led the Red Raiders with a .336 batting average as a sophomore in 2022.

She hit five home runs and had 21 RBI’s.

Mizzou football added yet another player through the transfer portal last night (Tuesday).

Former Oregon defensive lineman Kristian Williams committed to Mizzou, making his announcement on Twitter.

Williams entered the portal in May after three seasons with Oregon where he had 25 tackles in 24 games.
