The St. Louis Cardinals reclaimed sole possession of first place in the National league Central after beating the Milwaukee Brewers 5-4 in Milwaukee last night (Wednesday).

St. Louis sluggers Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado led the charge. Goldy hit a two run-home run in the first inning and Arenado crushed a go-ahead two run bomb in the sixth.

The Cardinals and Brewers play the series finale this afternoon.

The Kansas City Royals were shut out 5-0 by the Los Angeles Angels last night (Wednesday) at Angels Stadium.

The Royals nine-game tour of the West Coast was largely successful. Kansas City went 5-4 in San Francisco, Oakland and Anaheim for its first winning road trip of the year.

Kansas City has the day off today and return to the K tomorrow (Friday) to start a series with the Oakland A’s.

The Colorado Avalanche are now just one win away from claiming a Stanley Cup after defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 in overtime in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals last night (Wednesday).

Game 5 takes place tomorrow night (Friday).

In some sad NFL news the Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Jaylon Ferguson has died, at the age of 26.

The team made the announcement on Twitter yesterday (Wednesday).

No cause of death was given.

He was nicknamed “Sack Daddy”, in college where he broke the all-time NCAA record for career sacks with 45.

Serena Williams marked her return to tennis this week after a year-long absence.

Following the win, the 23-time grand slam winner admitted that there were times during her 12-month layoff that she feared she might never return.
