The St. Louis Cardinals made their second big trade of the season yesterday.

Just before the trade deadline, the Cards sent center fielder Harrison Bader, a New York native, back home, when they traded him and a player to be named later, or cash considerations, to the Yankees, for starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery.

Montgomery has posted a 3.77 ERA in 272 innings across 51 starts the past two seasons, but has struggled in recent outings for New York.

The two trades appear to have invigorated the Cardinals offense, as St. Louis shut out the Cubs last night, 6-0. Adam Wainwright got the win with six strong innings.

Kansas City was in Chicago yesterday, where the White Sox blasted the Royals, 9-2.
