Noble Health Under Investigation by Two Branches of the Department of Labor
Noble Health, the most recent owners of the Audrain Community Hospital and Callaway Community Hospital, is now the focus of at least two federal investigations.
In Callaway, state inspectors deemed conditions to be so poor as to endanger patients, skimping on surgical supplies and drugs. Noble also stopped paying for their workers’ health and life insurance plans without their knowledge while still collecting the monthly benefit deductibles from paychecks, leaving them unknowingly uninsured. More than a few employees are now buried under unexpected medical bills.
One investigating agency, the Department of Labor, Wage and Hour declined to comment as it might muddy the waters of the investigation. The Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration is also remaining close-mouthed.
