New Franklin Basketball Tournament Continues

Girls action at the 94th Annual New Franklin Tournament wraps up tonight.

At 5:30, Bunceton with Prairie Home plays Westran for seventh place, at 6:00 Sweet Springs and Pilot Grove will battle for third place and at 7:00 Sturgeon and Fayette will vie for the consolation.

The championship game gets underway at 7:30 with Community R-VI Lady Trojans taking on the host team, the Lady Bulldogs of New Franklin.

R-VI came into the tournament as the number one seed with New Franklin as the number 2 seed.

In boys action last night, Fayette beat Bunceton with Prairie Home 51 – 41 and Pilot Grove beat Sweet Springs, also 51 – 41.

That sets up a Pilot Grove / Fayette matchup in the consolation game while Bunceton Prairie Home and Sweet Springs battle for seventh place.

Westran beat Sturgeon 52 – 35 and New Franklin knocked off Community R-VI 60 – 24.

Westran and New Franklin are vying for the championship while third place will go to either Sturgeon or Community R-VI.

Mason Carroll led the Trojans in scoring last night with 10.

Boys games take place tomorrow afternoon starting at Noon.
