District play for Classes 1, 2, & 3 wrapped up over the weekend.

In boys action Friday night, Glasgow advances to sectionals in Class 1 after beating Higbee while Clopton and Salisbury advance in Class 2, beating Cairo and Harrisburg respectively.

In Class 3, South Shelby beat Palmyra and North Callaway won over Hermann to continue postseason play.

Sectional play for boys begins tonight.

In Class 2, Clopton takes on Canton at Hannibal High School, Salisbury faces Lincoln at Capital City High School, and Eugene plays Hartville in Lebanon, all games tip at 6:00pm.

In girls play Saturday night, Community R-VI advances after beating Wellsville-Middletown in Class 1.

In Class 2, Cairo beat Silex and New Franklin ended Salisbury’s season to advance while in Class 3, Louisiana’s season came to an end at the hands of Duchesne, South Shelby beat Palmyra and Hermann fell to Montgomery County.

Sectional play for girls starts tomorrow night.

Basketball district play gets underway for boys in Class 4 tonight.

Winfield and Bowling Green play at St. Charles West High School at 7:00, in Moberly, it’s Hallsville & Centralia at 6:00 followed by Mexico & Moberly at 7:30.

Kirksville & Macon both have first round byes.

At Fatima in Westphalia, it’s Southern Boone and Blair Oaks at 6:00 followed by Fulton & Boonville at 7:30.

Marshall plays Oak Grove at 6:00 in Oak Grove.

In Mizzou basketball this weekend, the men used a dominant second-half to get past Georgia on the road, 85 – 63.

After trailing by a point at intermission, the Tigers outscored the Bulldogs 45 – 22 in the second half.

The Tigers play their final road game of the regular season at LSU Wednesday night, tipoff set for 8pm.

On the women’s side, they came up short at home yesterday afternoon (Sunday), losing to Florida on Senior Day 61 – 52.

They travel to Greenville, South Carolina Thursday morning to start postseason play in the SEC tournament taking on Arkansas in a second-round matchup.

Tipoff is at 11am.

In Cardinals spring training action from the weekend, they split a pair of games.

On Saturday, the Washington Nationals got the best of the birds on the bat 3 – 2 but yesterday (Sunday) it was the Cards picking up the win over the Marlins 8 – 2.

Today at noon, the Cards host the New York Mets.

The Royals opened up spring training play Friday with a pair of wins over the Rangers, 6 – 5 on Friday and 10 – 5 on Saturday.

They fell to the Mariners yesterday (Sunday) 8 – 7.

The dismantling and re-building of the Blues continues.

Ivan Barbashev is headed to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for 20-year-old forward Zach Dean.

The 27-year-old Moscow native Barbashev in 7 seasons with the Blues has picked up 78 goals, 100 assists, and 128 penalty minutes across 410 regular-season games.

The 6-foot, 192-pound Dean has amassed 73 goals, 94 assists and 131 penalty minutes in 165 career regular-season games in the minors.
