Mizzou Basketball Begins Transformation

Fresh off a first round win in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, the Mizzou men’s basketball team is still hard at it.

Head Coach Dennis Gates has announced the commitment of Colorado State guard John Tonje (Monday) and word has come today (Tuesday) that Missouri big man Mohamed Diarra is entering the transfer portal. Diarra, the best juco big man in the country last year, played sparingly for MU this year.

The Tigers continue to reach out to players entering the portal including former CBC and North Carolina guard Caleb Love who entered the portal yesterday. Love averaged over 17 points a game for the Tar Heels who failed to make the NCAA tournament this year for the first time in decades.

Meanwhile, assistant coach Charlton “CY” Young’s name has been bandied about in a couple of head coaching vacancies across the country.
